This week is German Week 2026 - a week long celebration of the German language and culture, initiated by the German Embassy London, the Goethe-Institut London and the DAAD UK and Ireland. We have much to be proud of and to celebrate here at Twyford with our students impressive successes in the German language.
Beginning with offers from Oxford University next year for two of our students to read languages: German and Philosophy and German and Beginners' Czech (with Slovak). We also have another sixth former with an offer to study Germana at university next year.
Two Year 10 students have won an £850 scholarship from the UK-German Connections to travel to Germany and write a report about a topic they pitched.
Year 12 and 13 students studying German for A Level went on a KS5 Christmas market trip to Germany in December.
And finally eight Year 9 students and Head of German Mr Hunt feature in the German embassy's social media promotion video for the #ShoutOutForGerman week, which you can view below.
