Year 8 students visited the National Archives at Kew to take part in a workshop about resistance and rebellion of enslaved people on plantations in the Caribbean.

This workshop supported the topic of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade which students were studying in History. The workshop gave students the chance to handle sources taken from the time and to broaden their understanding of the varied means of resistance used by enslaved people in opposing slavery. During the workshop, students handled a range of original documents including newspapers, letters and a fascinating map showing the area the Maroons, formally enslaved people in Jamaica settled.
