What is a School Street and why is it important?

A School Street is where the roads leading to school gates are closed to most traffic for a set time, at the start and end of the school day. It maintains access for residents living at properties within the designated Pedestrian and Cycle Zone.

The Twyford School Street should help our students feel safer on their school journey and arrival to school, increase walking and cycling and improve air quality by reducing congestion outside Twyford School at peak times. More information was provided in an email last term.

Twyford Crescent junction with Uxbridge Road and Twyford Avenue will be closed to most traffic between 7.45 to 8.45am and 2.45 to 4.00pm during term time, according to the term dates published on Ealing Council's website. It will still operate on individual school training and occasional days.

The Twyford School Street will start on Monday 12th January 2026.
